Perplexity's MCP server connects agents to the Sonar API for live, citation-backed web search and Q&A. Tool surface includes perplexity_ask (and research/reasoning variants) that return synthesized answers with sources. Security surface: it holds a Perplexity API key, spends per-query credits, and returns web-sourced text that can carry injected content into the model.
